| Checklist - 3 key
steps for successful migration to Microsoft
Exchange 2003
Planning; Active Directory migration;
Microsoft Exchange migration
Planning:
The key to a successful migration lies
largely in the planning. CSF’s reporting
tools can help take away the pain of
migration and save a great deal of money in
the process.
With CSF’s tools you can easily report on
disabled user accounts and accounts that
have not been used within a specified
(defined by you) timescale.
You also need to consider the following
for different stages of the migration:
• Hardware – you need to review the
hardware capabilities
• Network and Site topography – you need to
keep track of your bandwidth at every
location as this drives the migration
• Setting up trusts – helps co-existence of
2 environments
• Preparation of import lists if necessary
• Changing user names if necessary
• Handling duplicate or similar names
• Whether or not the security lists will be
used as distribution lists in the new
environment (they can now be combined)
• Plan Active Directory organisation units
and group structures before migration
